1. Press and hold the key for one second to enter the Set
Mode.
2. Rotate the DIAL knob to select Set Mode Item 104: UNIT 104: UNIT 104: UNIT 104: UNIT 104: UNIT
SELECT SELECT SELECT SELECT SELECT .
3. Press the key briefly to enable adjustment of this Set
Mode Item.
4. Rotate the DIAL knob to select the preferred unit (°C °C °C °C °C or °F °F °F °F °F ).
5. Press the key to change the cursor to “BARO BARO BARO BARO BARO ”, then
rotate the DIAL knob to select the preferred unit (hPa hPa hPa hPa hPa , mb mb mb mb mb ,
mmHg mmHg mmHg mmHg mmHg , or inch inch inch inch inch ).
6. Press the key to change the cursor to “ALTI ALTI ALTI ALTI ALTI ”, then ro-
tate the DIAL knob to select the preferred unit (m m m m m or ft ft ft ft ft ).
7. Press the PTT switch briefly to save the new setting and
exit to normal operation.

1. Press and hold the key for one second to enter the Set Mode.
2. Rotate the DIAL knob to select Set Mode Item 103: UNIT 103: UNIT 103: UNIT 103: UNIT 103: UNIT
OFFSET OFFSET OFFSET OFFSET OFFSET .
3. Press the key briefly to enable adjustment of this Set
Mode Item.
4. Rotate the DIAL knob to adjust the VX-8R display to the
calibrated barometer value.
Note: The offset value appears in an “OFST
OFST OFST OFST OFST ” row.
5. Press the key to change the cursor to “ALTI ALTI ALTI ALTI ALTI ”, then ro-
tate the DIAL knob to adjust the VX-8R display to the true
altitude at your current location.
Note: The offset value appears in an “OFST
OFST OFST OFST OFST ” row.
6. Press the PTT switch briefly to save the new setting and
exit to normal operation.
The VX-8R’s altimeter calculates from atmospheric pressure. Therefore, you
must perform the Barometric correction first.
