1. Set the radio to the coordination frequency.
2. Press the
key, then press the key. This provides a
“Short-cut” to Set Mode Item 95: SQL TYPE 95: SQL TYPE 95: SQL TYPE 95: SQL TYPE 95: SQL TYPE .
3. Rotate the DIAL knob until “MESSAGE MESSAGE MESSAGE MESSAGE MESSAGE ” appears on the
display; this activates the Message feature.
4. Press the PTT switch to exit from the Set Mode and acti-
vate the Message feature. When the Message feature is ac-
tivated, the “MSG
MSG MSG MSG MSG ” notation will appear on the display.
5. When you receive a message: a beep sounds, the LED light
blinks white, and [“Message” FROM FROM FROM FROM FROM “sending station’s ID”] scrolls on the display.
6. Press any key (except key) to clear the received message, and wait for a new
message.
To disable the Message feature, repeat the above procedure, rotating the DIAL knob to
select “OFF
OFF OFF OFF OFF ” in step 3 above.
If you enable the CTCSS/DCS/EPCS Bell feature (described previously), you
can tell that you are receiving a message by the ringing “bell” sound alert.
