1. Overview

The fire-fighting booster sets are designed to transfer and boost water pressure in fixed fire-

fighting installations and automatic sprinkler systems, in compliance with the EN12845 fire-

fighting standards in force.

Operating limits

Fluid temperature: +4°C to +40 °C

Ambient temperature: +4°C to + 40 °C

Operating pressure: Max 8 bar, 10 bar, 16 bar depending on the type of pump

(see handbook).

Minimum inlet pressure:

According to NPSH curve and flow resistance; level should

be raised by a safety margin of at least 0.5 metres if water

contains air.

Maximum inlet pressure:

The inlet pressure plus the pressure supplied by the pump

against the closed valve must always be lower than the

maximum operating pressure.

Starts per hour:

Do not exceed the number of starts per hour recommended

in the electric pump specifications.

Limitations to fluid temperature and pressure may be imposed by the

membrane tank. Observe the operating limits!

Dusty or sandy environments, or humid marine environments can cause

early deterioration and compromise the efficient operation of the unit.

2. Product description

The pressure booster set for fixed fire extinguishing systems, automatic sprinkler systems,

consists of electric and/or diesel pumps connected in parallel and mounted on a common

stand, a delivery manifold, on-off valves, check valves, pressure gauges, pressure switches and

a control panel for each service pump.

No suction manifold is provided with the set, as the regulations provide for the use of

independent suctions for each pump.

Depending on the model, the set may or may not feature a jockey pump.

In case of large-sized sets, the pumps and the fuel tank for the diesel pump (if present) may

be supplied separately.

Where two service pumps are installed, each of them is independently capable of supplying

the specified flow and pressure. Where three service pumps are installed, each pump is

capable of delivering at least 50% of the required flow at the specified pressure. Please

remember that the capacity of the jockey pump must not be taken into account when

calculating the useful capacity of the set.
