OPERATIVE MODES

The GPRS terminal (RTG 100) can work in two different modes. The user selects this through a set-up menu (see
the BASIC SETTINGS paragraph).

 Synchronous mode: RTG 100 communicates with the device connected by the lead supplied, through the

serial port. At regular intervals, it sends the device data on the GSM network, using the GPRS service. The
value (in seconds) of the interval in question can be set in the RTG 100 set-up menus. During a silence
period, the device may change status or an alarm intervene. In this case, RTG 100 will connect to the GSM
network on a one-off basis, later returning to the previous timescales. SMS messages can be sent to
report on changes in status and/or alarms notified. This setting can be selected from the set-up menu. If a
server is set up to receive GPRS data, during a silent period, the RTG 100 can be ‘reawakened’ by placing a
data call (through GSM modem connected to the server). In this case, RTG 100 recognises the call and
starts GPRS communication.

 Asynchronous mode: RTG 100 communicates with the device connected by the lead supplied, through the

serial port. RTG 100 will only connect on the GSM network if the device status changes, or an alarm
intervenes. SMS messages can be sent to report on changes in status and/or alarms notified. This setting
can be selected from the set-up menu. If a server is set up to receive GPRS data, during a silent period,
the RTG 100 can be ‘reawakened’ by placing a data call (through GSM modem connected to the server). In
this case, RTG 100 recognises the call and starts GPRS communication.

SIM card

A user’s choice of telephone SIM card is positioned in the GPRS terminal. The user must recover the data on the
set-up to be entered into the RTG 100 menu. A M2M SIM (Machine to Machine) card should be used. The SIM to
be inserted should have the FAX/DATA service enabled.

If a server is enabled and you wish to make the call Server->RTG 100 to ‘reawaken’ the GPRS module, is necessary
that the M2M SIM inside RTG 100 is turned on with the service FAX/DATA as follows:

FAX/DATA

enabling fax/data service

FAX/DATA ASYN/300/9600BPS/NON TRASP

additional data number

The M2M SIM set this way will have three numbers: the number refers to the main M2M SIM, the number
FAX/DATA ASYN/300/9600BPS/NON TRASP and the data number. The telephone number to be set on the server
to provide the "awakening" of the module RTG 100 will be the number FAX/DATA ASYN/300/9600BPS/NON
TRASP.

For the SIM card to connect to the GSM network, PIN entry must be disabled
