11.3 MARITIME MOBILE SERVICE IDENTITY (MMSI)

11.3.1 What is an MMSI?

An MMSI is a nine digit number used on Marine Transceivers capable of using
Digital Selective Calling (DSC). This number is used like a telephone number to
selectively call other vessels.

THIS NUMBER MUST BE PROGRAMMED INTO THE RADIO TO OPERATE
THE PHANTOM PS1000 DSC FUCTIONS.

11.3.2 Programming the MMSI

WARNING

User MMSI can be input only twice. If the user tries to input an MMSI
more than twice, “

ERROR TOO MANY ENTRIES

” nota-

tion will appear on the display. If the user needs to change
the MMSI more than twice, the transceiver will have to be
sent to Factory Service. Refer to the section “13.2. FAC-
TORY SERVICE.”

1. Press and hold down the [CALL(SET)MENU] key

until “

RADIO SETUP

” menu appears.

2. Press the [

] key to select “

DSC SETUP

” menu,

then press the [CALL(SET)MENU] key.

3. Press the [

] or [ ] key to select “

USER MMSI

.”

4. Press the [CALL(SET)MENU] key. The User MMSI

number will appear, and the first digit will be flash-
ing.

5. Press the [

] or [

] key to select first number of

your MMSI, then press the [CALL(SET)MENU] key
to save the number.

6. Repeat the above step to set your MMSI (up to nine

digits).
When the last number of your MMSI is in place, press and
hold the [CALL(SET)MENU] key to store your MMSI.

7. To exit this menu and return to radio operation mode, press the [16/9] key .
