Mounting the 6189-KBPEPS1 in a Panel

1. Cut an opening in the panel using the appropriate panel cutout dimensions

provided on page 3.

2. Remove the 14 self-locking nuts (use 3/8 inch socket) from the mounting

studs on the keyboard.

3. Remove the mounting brackets from the mounting studs.

4. Make sure the sealing gasket is properly positioned on the keyboard. This

gasket forms a compression type seal (NEMA Type 4). Do not use sealing
compounds.

5. Place the 6189-KBPEPS1 in the panel cutout .

6. Replace the mounting brackets.

7. Install the 14 self-locking nuts hand tight.

8. Alternately tighten the self-locking nuts until the 6189-KBPEPS1 is held

firmly against the panel (see recommended tightening sequence on the
following page). The amount of torque required increases significantly as
the gasket reaches the proper compression. Tighten nuts to a torque of 2.3
N-m (20 in-lbs).

ATTENTION

!

ATTENTION: Disconnect all electrical power from the panel
before making cutout.

Make sure the area around the panel cutout is clear.

Take precautions so that metal cuttings do not enter any components
that are already installed in the panel.

Failure to follow these warnings may result in personal injury or
damage to the panel components.

ATTENTION

!

ATTENTION: Tighten mounting nuts to a torque of 2.3 N-m (20
in-lbs) to provide a proper seal and prevent damage to the
6189-KBPEPS1. Rockwell Automation assumes no responsibility for
water or chemical damage to the pointing device or other equipment
within the enclosure because of improper installation.
