Installation guide

This guide provides information on the IBM 802.11a/b/g Wireless CardBus
Adapter.

Product description

The IBM 802.11a/b/g Wireless CardBus Adapter contained in this package has the
following features:

Conforms to IEEE 802.11a, 802.11b, and 802.11g (draft) standards.

Up to 54 Mbps data rate for high-capacity, fast operation

Supports PC Card hot-swapping with true plug and play connectivity.

v

Lower power consumption.

Note:

The Wi-Fi Alliance is scheduled to certify IEEE 802.11g in mid-2003. This

may affect current 802.11g technology. If the certification affects the operation of
the CardBus Adapter, IBM will upgrade it to ensure that you have the most
current product available.

Installing the Wireless CardBus Adapter

This section provides information on installing the 802.11a/b/g Wireless CardBus
Adapter.

Installing the Wireless CardBus Adapter in Windows XP
Professional

To install the cardbus adapter in Microsoft Windows XP Professional, do the
following:

1.

Make sure that the cardbus adapter is not inserted in the CardBus slot. If it is,
eject it from the slot.

2.

Insert the Installation and User’s Guide CD into the computer CD-ROM drive.
An IBM welcome window opens automatically.

3.

Click Software.

4.

Click Install Device Drivers. Continue with Step 5.
If the Welcome window does not open, do the following:
a.

Click Start → Run.

b.

Click Browse and navigate to your computer CD-ROM drive; then
double-click the SETUP.EXE file on the Installation and User’s Guide CD.
